Get your cardio in
Regular cardio workouts can, strengthen your heart and blood vessels, improve the flow of oxygen throughout your body, lower your blood pressure and cholesterol, reduce the risk of heart diseases, diabetes, Alzheimer's, stroke, and some kinds of cancer. What type of cardio is best? The one you like doing! Simple right? Keep the session fun and stay away from long boring sessions on a treadmill. If you like that type of session might as well go take it outside and get some fresh air! If the weather is not cooperating, any type of circuit training can do the trick. Lift more, cut down rest periods, strongman style training, enjoy and have fun while doing it.
Obviously! But it doesn’t always correlate. Your will to exercise every single day must equal your will to eat like someone who does. The body requires somewhat of a balance. Too many calories out vs. in will eventually equal disaster.
That so-called feeling of a good training session comes from endorphins, chemicals produced naturally by the nervous system to cope with pain or stress. They are often called "feel-good" chemicals because they can act as a pain reliever and happiness booster. So basically, the ‘’good’’ stress that comes from your workout will bring that nice relaxing mood. Endorphins act as pain relievers and mood boosters. One workout a day keeps the downers away!
Improve your memory
Exercise increases the production of cells in the hippocampus responsible for memory and learning. One very simple fact about exercising is that it improves your ability to refocus. While you are concentrating on the task and goals at hand, you empty out the thinking box and gain clearer thoughts, the hippocampus effect. One of my biggest issues while writing my latest book “Roll Strong(er)” was the infamous writer’s block, which can’t be avoided by staring extra hard into your laptop screen. So, after about 45 mins of sitting down, I made it a point to get up and move, go for a walk, or schedule a Jiu-jitsu session to clean out my thoughts.
We all have days that suck, where we feel less than average. That little workout has the power to put those thoughts away, so go get sweaty. Your mind and body will thank you for it.
