"Leaky Gut'"
Do you feel you are in good health? If you said yes right away, what would you say if I asked you whether your intestinal tract was healthy? Are you more uncertain? I’m sure you are.
Intestinal tract health is probably one of the areas where modern medicine is less adapted. Are you constipated or the opposite? The most common medical response would be to take a laxative as needed and to eat more or less fibre, depending on the case. There are so many internal and external factors that affect digestive health that this assessment seems puzzling. However, irregular movements, frequent gas, bloating and gastric reflux are part of daily life for many people and they are all signals telling us that something in our digestive system is not working as well as it should.
Let’s look at some elements that affect good digestive health:
  1. Stress: The level of stress (internal or external) will directly or indirectly influence several axes of the human body. Good sleep and stress management are among the basic factors for good general health, including digestive health.
  2. Your food: Poor eating – a diet that has too little fibre and high-quality fatty acids and too much sugar – will cause many problems of the digestive system. Dietary deficiencies will cause inflammation, a lack of minerals such as magnesium, which is essential to the proper functioning of the intestine, and a much higher level of toxins that will overload the liver.
  3. Intestinal flora: composed of billions of bacteria that, when properly balanced, are very beneficial to your digestive health, your mood and your immune system. The problem is that these little bacteria are greatly influenced by their environment. Fermented foods (yoghurt, Kombucha, sauerkraut, kefir) and/or the addition of various strains of probiotics, such as Pb4 ou Pb5, should be part of everyone’s routine. Prebiotics (inulin, chicory root), as found in Colonik Defense, are also very important because they help nourish the colonies of different bacteria found in our intestines.

In conclusion:
  • Properly manage your stress and be sure to sleep well
  • Eat a variety of foods
  • Don’t forget your magnesium
  • Fibre, probiotics and prebiotics are your friends
  • A healthy liver is essential

Now, do you still think that you have a healthy digestive system?
